Streaming statistics

Sinds juni 2022 ben ik actief op www.amuse.io, Amuse for Artists wel te verstaan. Dat had ik technisch nodig om mijn muziek te kunnen publiceren op streaming sites of online muziekdiensten, zoals Spotify en YouTube Music. Amuse zorgt ervoor dat de muziek, die ik op hun platform uploadt, wereldwijd verspreid wordt over een heel aantal streaming sites.

In de praktijk wordt mijn muziek vooral op Spotify (ca 25%) en YouTube (ca 75%) beluisterd. Mijn single ‘Just for You’ werd op 25 juli 2022 gereleast en is nu 71 keer beluisterd. De volgende single ‘You are My Favorite’ kwam uit op 5 september en is 24 keer beluisterd. Natuurlijk was ik enthousiast bij elke ophoging van de aantallen, maar het bleef wel vrij rustig.

Maar sinds de lancering van mijn album ‘Reflecting You’ zijn de aantallen aanmerkelijk toegenomen en heeft eindelijk Apple Music ook zijn eerste streams gehad. Spotify was ‘hot’ en YouTube wat stilletjes de afgelopen week.

Je denkt wel eens hoe die artiesten hun brood daar mee kunnen verdienen. Nou, dan gaat het echt om de grote aantallen. Met de 348 streams die ik nu in totaal heb gehad zou ik $ 0,26 verdienen. Maar ze betalen pas uit vanaf $ 3,00. Dat betekent dat er eerst zo’n 3000 tot 4000 streams de revue moeten passeren voordat de eerste betaling van drie dollar zal kunnen plaatsvinden. Dus wie hier van moet leven, moet echt aan de bak. Dan wordt het werken in plaats van hobbyen.

Ik hoop en werk eraan om dit jaar twee nieuwe albums te releasen, zeker nu ik weet dat een album ook extra streams oplevert voor de eerdere releases, single tracks en albums. Ik vind het leuk om hier mee bezig te zijn, want van elk nummer dat ik klaarmaak leer ik weer nieuwe dingen: muzikaal, instrumentaal en digitaal.

Wat is muziek toch een bijzonder fenomeen, dat er wereldwijd dagelijks duizenden liedjes worden geschreven en uitgebracht. Een eindeloze stroom aan creativiteit, en telkens toch weer wat anders. Ik hoop dat jij mijn muziek ook leuk vindt en bij anderen aanbeveelt.

Bij dezen deel ik nog een nummer met je. Het is ‘We will abide with You’, voor piano, fluit, viool en koor. Dit nummer is gratis want het valt niet onder de streaming dienst maar staat wel op YouTube. En als je op wsjpiano zoekt op YouTube vind je nog meer muziek van mijn hand.

Since June 2022 I have been active on www.amuse.io, Amuse for Artists that is. I technically needed that to be able to publish my music on streaming sites or online music services, such as Spotify and YouTube Music. Amuse ensures that the music that I upload on their platform is distributed worldwide over a large number of streaming sites.

In practice, my music is mainly listened to on Spotify (approx. 25%) and YouTube (approx. 75%). My single ‘Just for You’ was released on July 25, 2022 and has now been listened to 71 times. The next single ‘You are My Favorite’ was released on September 5 and has been listened to 24 times. Of course I was excited with every increase in the numbers, but it remained fairly quiet.

But since the launch of my album ‘Reflecting You’, the numbers have increased considerably and Apple Music has finally had its first streams. Spotify was ‘hot’ and YouTube a bit quiet last week.

You sometimes think how those artists can earn their living with that. Well, then it’s really about the big numbers. With the 348 streams I’ve had in total up to now, I would make $0.26. But they only pay out from $3.00. That means that some 3000 to 4000 streams must pass before the first payment of three dollars can be made. So whoever has to live off this, really has to work hard. Then it becomes work instead of hobby.

I’m hoping and working to release two new albums this year, especially now that I know that an album also brings extra streams for the previous releases, single tracks and albums. I enjoy working on this, because every song I prepare teaches me new things: musically, instrumentally and digitally.

Music is such a special phenomenon, that worldwide thousands of songs are written and released every day. An endless stream of creativity, and always something different. I hope you also like my music and recommend it to others.
