Just for You - on Spotify

Een rondedansje! Eergisteren kreeg ik de bevestiging van Amuse.com dat mijn eerste nummer is goedgekeurd voor publicatie. De definitieve release zal waarschijnlijk op 25 juli plaatsvinden op o.a. Spotify. Het Zweedse Amuse.com is distributeur naar o.a. Spotify for Artists, waar ik mijn nummer Just for You heb aangemeld om te uploaden. Je kunt namelijk niet zomaar wat op de streaming site van Spotify zetten en gevonden worden. Daar heb je dus Spotify for Artists voor nodig en een club als Amuse. Amuse heeft strenge eisen aan de kwaliteit van de cover en de muziek, maar daar heb ik nu dus aan voldaan.

Eind 2019 maakte het nummer Just for You haar maiden voyage het internet op, op de besloten site van MuseScore.com, maar nog niet openbaar. Ik was al een tijdje bezig met het ontwikkelen van dit nummer, dat ik eerst spontaan als improvisatie opnam op mijn Roland FP-90 en later als compositie ben gaan uitschrijven. Aanvankelijk schreef ik het voor piano, maar later ook met toegevoegde stemmen voor telkens twee solo instrumenten.

De titel Just for You impliceert dat er twee partijen aan het woord zijn: jij en ik. Vandaar dat ik het ook een duet voor twee instrumenten noem. Die twee partijen worden in het stuk uitgespeeld door de solisten, die begeleid worden door de piano. Voor het eerste live optreden met dit nummer bewerkte ik de compositie voor dwarsfluit en panfluit, bij gebrek aan een trompettist. Maar met de panfluit was het een mooie combinatie met schitterende timbre verschillen.

Het grootste enthousiasme constateerde ik in de MuseScore-community voor de variant voor piano, dwarsfluit en trompet, die daar inmiddels ruim 1200 weergaven en een aantal goede waarderingen en meer dan 1500 weergaven en een leuk aantal likes op YouTube heeft gescoord. Met een like-percentage van 2 à 3 % is dat niet slecht voor een beginner op deze markt.

2019 was het jaar dat ik mijn beroepsprofiel op internet omgooide. Ik ging op 1 januari 2019 met vervroegd pensioen en wilde altijd al, als ik later met pensioen zou gaan, me gaan toeleggen op schrijven en componeren. En mocht het ooit lukken, dan wilde ik mijn boeken en muziek graag bij een breed publiek onder de aandacht gaan brengen. Ik vond het nogal egocentrisch als ik mijn talenten tot de studeerkamer zou beperken, en wilde graag de lol die ik zelf aan het resultaat heb, delen met zo veel mogelijk anderen, want delen is vermenigvuldigen.

Zo wordt Just for You langzamerhand tot algemeen kunstbezit om te beluisteren en toegevoegd aan persoonlijke afspeellijsten. Maar wordt het ook reproduceerbaar voor en door anderen. Met mijn gratis account op Amuse.com mag ik 12 items per jaar publiceren. Dat was ook precies wat ik in gedachten had. Het moet geen werk worden, maar ik wil er plezier aan hebben om regelmatig wat te kunnen publiceren en jou blij te maken met mijn muziek.

Tot slot nog een vraag, of jij mij ook blij wilt maken met jouw reactie. Likes, comments en abonnementen op mijn YouTube-kanaal WSJ Piano en straks dus ook op Spotify en andere streaming sites, maken dat mijn muziek sneller wordt gevonden door een breder publiek. Kleine moeite toch 👍

A jump for joy! The day before yesterday I received confirmation from Amuse.com that my first issue has been approved for publication. The final release will probably take place on July 25 on Spotify, among others. The Swedish Amuse.com is a distributor to, among others, Spotify for Artists, where I have registered my song Just for You to upload. You can’t just put something on the Spotify streaming site and be found. So you need Spotify for Artists and a club like Amuse for that. Amuse has strict requirements for the quality of the cover and the music, but I have now met that.

At the end of 2019, the song Just for You made her maiden voyage on the internet, on the site of MuseScore.com, but not yet publicly. I had been developing this song for a while, which I first spontaneously recorded as an improvisation on my Roland FP-90 and later wrote it out as a composition. Initially I wrote it for piano, but later also with added voices for two solo instruments.

The title Just for You implies that two parties are speaking: you and me. That’s why I call it a duet for two instruments. These two parts are played out in the piece by the soloists, who are accompanied by the piano. For the first live performance with this song I arranged the composition for flute and panpipe, due to the absence of a trumpet player. But with the panpipe it was a nice combination with beautiful timbre differences.

I noticed an overwhelming enthusiasm in the MuseScore community for the variant for piano, flute and trumpet, which has now scored more than 1200 views and a number of ratings and more than 1500 views and a nice number of likes on YouTube. With a like percentage of 2 to 3%, which is not bad for a beginner in this market.

2019 was the year that I changed my professional profile on the internet. I took early retirement on January 1, 2019 and I always wanted to focus on writing and composing when I was going to be retired, later. And if I ever succeed, I wanted to bring my books and music to the attention of a wide audience. I found it rather self-centered to limit my talents to the study, and I wanted to share the fun I get from the result with as many others as possible, because sharing is multiplication.

For example, Just for You is gradually becoming a general art property to listen to and included in personal playlists. But it also becomes reproducible for and by others.
