70 years young and still creative: Reflections of A Celtic Mood

Met grote dankbaarheid kijk ik terug op de afgelopen 70 jaar.
Die dankbaarheid geef ik graag weer in mijn muziek.
Ik voel me niet te oud om nog nieuwe dingen te leren en te ondernemen, zoals het ontdekken van de digitale en online muziekwereld. Daarom blijft mijn muzikale bron nog steeds nieuwe muziek produceren, die ik vervolgens graag met jou deel, op streamingdiensten zoals Spotify en YouTube Music.

Mijn nieuwste release heet: Reflections of a Celtic Mood.
Geheel spontaan ontstond in 2004 een improvisatie, die uiteindelijk in 2016 ook een compositie werd, waarvan ik dacht: dat lijkt wel een Schots/Iers/Keltisch/Gallic nummertje. Dus noemde ik het ‘My Celtic Mood’. Nu, ruim tien jaar later speelde ik weer eens een (volledig andere) improvisatie, maar waar ik wel datzelfde gevoel bij kreeg. En zo ontstond ‘My Celtic Mood - 2024′.
Beide nummers en nog meer in die sfeer hebben nu hun weg gevonden naar het Album Reflections of a Celtic Mood. Een paar nummers van oudere Albums heb ik ook opgenomen, om de sfeer te completeren. 

De cover toont ons een stoomtrein die over het Glenfinnan Viaduct in de Schotse Hooglanden rijdt. Dit landschap werd o.a. gebruikt voor de verfilming van Harry Potter. 
A.I. heeft me geholpen om dit plaatje te maken en dat heb ik aangevuld met mijn tekst. 

Het tweede nummer op het Album heet ‘The Highlands Railway’, waarin je de trein op gang hoort komen, de cadans van de wielen op het spoor hoort, de lock hoort puffen en fluiten, het landschap aan je voorbij ziet glijden en je je kunt voorstellen dat er zo nu en dan een stationnetje wordt aangedaan.

Maar dat duurt nog wel een poos(je), want voordat ik mijn improvisaties leesbaar heb gemaakt (dat heet transscriptie), is er alweer heel wat water door de Rijn gestroomd. With great gratitude, I look back on the past 70 years.
I like to express that gratitude in my music.
I don’t feel too old to learn and do new things, such as discovering the digital and online music world.
That’s why my musical source continues to produce new music, which I then like to share with you, on streaming services such as Spotify and YouTube Music.

My latest release is called: Reflections of a Celtic Mood.
An improvisation arose completely spontaneously in 2004, which eventually became a composition in 2016, of which I thought: that sounds like a Scottish/Irish/Celtic/Gallic song. So I called it ‘My Celtic Mood’. Now, more than ten years later, I played another (completely different) improvisation, but it gave me the same feeling. And so ‘My Celtic Mood - 2024′ was born.
Both songs and more in that vein have now found their way to the Album Reflections of a Celtic Mood. 

The cover shows us a steam train passing over the Glenfinnan Viaduct in the Scottish Highlands. This landscape was used, among other things, for the film adaptation of Harry Potter. 
A.I. helped me to have this picture made and I supplemented it with my text. 

The second song on the album is called ‘The Highlands Railway’, in which you hear the train starting, the cadence of the wheels on the track, the lock puffing and whistling, you can imagine the landscape glide past you and you can see that a small station is visited.
